There have been a lot of changes to the aged care system recently, which can make navigating it a challenge. Care Finders may be able to help.

Some older people find it difficult to get the aged care services they need, or to understand the services they are entitled to receive. Care finders is a free service to help with this.

It supports people who have no one else to support them. It can help you learn about, apply for and set up support services.

If you need this help, you can see if you are eligible and find an organisation on the My Aged Care website.

To look for a community visitor service, there are currently two LGBTI community organisations providing this support:

• Queensland Council for LGBTI Health for Brisbane North Region, Cairns or Yarrabah
• Meridian Health for the ACT and south-east NSW

If you’d like an LGBTI person as your Care Finder, you can also ask the local Care Finder organisation about this.
